OMNI SHORT FILMS GOES TO "DINNER" The 23-minute short film was written and directed by Greg Akopyan and Lawrence Kane and stars Kelly Rutherford ("Melrose Place") and James Michael Tyler (Gunther on TV's "Friends"). Filmed primarily in black-and-white with a special section in color, "The Disturbance at Dinner" is a throwback to the films of the classic silent period with a distictly modern twist. The romantic comedy is part Buster Keaton, part Georges Melies and part "Pleasantville" and follows the bittersweet story of a simpleton and the blind woman he loves. The short-subject film has garnered deserved acclaim along the festival circuit picking up the Bronze Award at the 1998 Worldfest-Houston. At the Hardacre Film Festival in Iowa, the film received an Honorable Mention. Omni Short Film Distribution is dedicated to the makers and appreciators of the short film. It is their goal to find the most creative and professional short films, with compelling stories, available worldwide, and present these movies to the viewing public. They intend to pursue television, theatrical, DVD, Internet, videocassette and all media that will enhance and perpetuate the short film experience.
